Columbia-Minerva Nantuk 4 ply Knitting Yarn (Knitting Worsted size-2 or 4 oz skein)-16 ounces each of Colors 1, 2 and 3; 8 ounces of Color 4 and 1 oz Contrasting Color for berries

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 10 ½, 1 cable needle and 1 "Hiawatha" blunt end tapestry needle

Row 1-Knit. Row 2-K 2, P 6, K 15, P 6, K 2. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pat, twisting cable in each K 6 section on 5th row from start, then every 8th row for rem of panel, by K 2, sl next 3 sts onto cable needle and hold in back of work, K 3, then K the 3 sts from cable needle, K to next K 6 section, twist cable, K 2.

Row 1-K 2, twist cable, K 7, yo K 1 mark this st as center st, then yo, K 7, twist cable K 2. Row 2-K 2, P 6, K 7, P 3, K 7, P 6, K 2. Rows 3, 5 and 7-K to center st, yo, K 1, yo, K to end of row. Row 4-K 2, P 6, K 7, P 5, K 7, P 6, K 2. Row 6-K 2, P 6, K 7, P 7, K 7, P 6, K 2. Row 8-K 2, P 6, K 7, P 9, K 7, P 6, K 2. AFGHAN: Panel No. 1-Make 2 each of Colors 1 and 3. Cast on 31 sts. Work 36 rows of Garter St and Cable Pattern (18 ridges), then 20 rows of Leaf Pattern, until there are 7 leaves from start. Work 36 rows of Garter St and Cable Pattern, bind off.
Panel No.2-Make 2 of Color 2 and 1 of Color 4. Cast on 31 sts. Work 8 rows (4 ridges) of Garter St and Cable Pattern, then work 20 rows of Leaf Pattern and 36 rows of Garter St and Cable Pattern, twisting cables on rows 5 and 13 of Leaf Pattern until there are 8 leaves from start, work 8 rows of Garter St and Cable Pattern, bind off.
TO JOIN: Sew or sl st (with crochet hook) panels tog on wrong side of work, placing colors as follows: Starting at either edge, Color 1, Color 2, Color 3, Color 4, Color 3, Color 2, Color 1.
BERRIES: Thread double strand of contrasting color in tapestry needle. Make a french knot by wrapping yarn around needle 3 times, in center st at base of each leaf and in each eyelet in Row 1 of leaf pat. Fasten at back of work.
FRINGE: Cut 14 strands each of Colors 1 and 4 - 12 inches long, by winding yarn over a 6 inch cardboard and cutting at one end. Cut 28 strands each of Colors 2 and 3 in same manner. Take 1 strand each of Colors 1 and 4 and 2 strands each of Colors 2 and 3 for each fringe. Fasten fringe to end of each cable section.
