REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of 3-ply Nylon, Baby Yarn or Pompadour
NEEDLES: 1-pr. No. 2 single pointed
CROCHET HOOK: 1 steel No. 3
8-inch Character Doll

GAUGE: 7½ sts to an inch. 11 rows to an inch.

   DRESS: Starting at the bottom, cast on 114 sts and work as follows: Row 1: K 2, * p 12 sts, k 2, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2. Row 2: P 2, * k 12 sts, p 2, repeat from * across, ending with p 2. Repeat these 2 rows until the piece measures 2½ inches in all, ending with a purl row. 1st dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, k 10, repeat from. * across, ending with p 2. 2nd dec: K 2, * p 2 tog, p 9, repeat from * across, ending with k 2. 3rd dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, k 8, repeat from * across, ending with p 2. 4th dec: K 2, * p 2 tog, p 7, repeat from * across, ending with k 2. 5th dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, k 6, repeat from * across, ending with p 2. 6th dec: K 2, * p 2 tog, p 5, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2. 7th dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, k 4, repeat from * across row, ending with p 2. 8th dec: K 2, * p 2 tog, p 3, repeat from * across, ending with k 2. 9th dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, k 2, repeat from * across row, ending with p 2. 10th dec: K 2, * p 2 tog, p 1, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2. 11th dec: P 2, * sl 1, k 1, psso, p 2, repeat from * across, ending with p 2. Now work as follows: 1st row: K 2, * p 1, k 2, repeat from * across ending with k 2. 2nd row: P 2, * k 1, p 2, repeat from * across, ending with p 2. Repeat 1st row, once. Increase row: P 2, * inc. 1 st in next st, p 2, repeat from * across row, ending with p 2. Work in ribbing for 9 rows. Bind off all sts, knitting the knit, purling the purl. Sew seam up the back of dress.

   FINISHING: Make 2 rows of s c around the bottom of the skirt. Make shoulder straps with 2 strands of yarn as shown in illustration.

   PANTIES: Cast on 28 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 3 rows. Now work in stockinette stitch for 10 rows. Bind off all sts loosely. Sew up back seam. Slip panties onto doll with the seam at the back. With a piece of yarn and a darning needle, catch thru center to form a crotch. Trim as in illustration.
