GAUGE: 6½ sts — 1 inch; 8 rows — 1 inch.

BACK: With No. 0 needles cast on 104 (110-116) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2½ inches. Change to No. 2 needles and stockinette st. Work even for 2 inches. Inc 1 st each end; then every 1 inch 4 times more (114 (120-126) sts). Work even until 12½ (13-13½) inches from beginning.
ARMHOLES: Bind off 7 (7-8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each end every other row 6 (7-7) times, (88(92-96) sts). Work even until arm holes measure 7¼ (7½-7¾) inches.
SHOULDERS: Bind off 7 (10-8) sts at beg of next 8 (6-8) rows. Slip remaining sts on a holder.
LEFT FRONT: With No. 0 needles cast on 56 (60-64) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2½ inches. Change to No. 2 needles and stockinette st. Work even for 1 inch. At arm edge inc 1 st; then every ¾ inch, 7 times more (64 (68-72) sts). Work even until 12½ (13-13½) inches from beginning.
ARMHOLE: At arm edge, bind off 8 (8-9) sts. At same edge, dec 1 st every other row 6 (8-9) times, (50 (52-54) sts). Work even until armhole measures 3 inches.
SHAPE NECK: At front edge, bind off 4 sts; then dec 1 st every other row 18 times, (28 (30-32) sts). Work even until armhole measures 7¼ (7½-7¾) inches.
SHOULDER: At arm edge bind off 7 (10-8) sts every other row 4 (3-4) times.
RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to left front, reversing shaping. Work first buttonhole ½ (½-1) inch from beg. BUTTONHOLE: Work 2 sts from center edge, bind off 3 sts work to end of row. On next row cast on 3 sts over the bound off sts. Work 6 more buttonholes 2½ inches apart.
SLEEVES: With No. 0 needles cast on 56 (56-60) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2½ inches. Change to No. 2 needles and stockinette st, increasing 1 st each end every ¾ inch, 13 (15-15) times, (82 (86-90) sts). Work even until piece measures 17 (17½-18) inches from beg. or desired length to underarm.
CAP: Bind off 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end every other row until 30 sts remain. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off remaining sts.
FINISHING: Sew seams. Sew in sleeves. NECKBAND: With right side facing, with No. 2 needles pick up 142 (146-150) sts around neck edge including sts on holder. Work in K2, P2 ribbing. Work even for 4 rows. SHORT ROWS: Work to 6 sts from end of row, turn, slip 1 and work to 6 sts from end of row. Turn and in the same manner work 6 sts less on the next 2 rows; then 8 sts less on each of the next 4 rows, and 10 sts less on each of the next 4 rows. Turn, slip 1, and work to end of row. Bind off in ribbing. Sew side edge of neck band to front edge. Block. Face front edges with grosgrain ribbon. Cut and sew around buttonholes. Sew on buttons.
