MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART BABY WOOL, 4 balls (¾ oz. balls) for size 2; 5 balls for size 3 and 1 ball contrasting color for both sizes.
Milward's Casein Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 2 (2¾ mm. size), and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
6 buttons.

GAUGE: 7½ sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch.

(Yarn over twice when making a buttonhole with No. 2 needles, and on next row work only one O, dropping the extra one.) In measuring buttonholes, always measure each subsequent buttonhole from the first one made. Continue in ribbing until piece measures 1½ inches in all. Change to No. 4 needles and dec 1 st. NECKBAND … With right side facing, using No. 2 needles, pick up 90 sts around neck edge. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for ¼ inch. Make a buttonhole in line with previous buttonholes. Work straight until band is ¾ inch wide. Bind off in ribbing

FINISHING … Sew up underarm and sleeves in one continuous seam. Sew on buttons. Sew pocket lining in place on wrong side, bringing bottom of pocket to top of ribbing. Press through damp cloth.

EMBROIDERY … Attach contrasting yarn at center top of dropped stitch and with tapestry needle work as follows: Make a feather stitch to the right over 3 threads. Then make another feather stitch to the left over the same 3 threads. Without breaking yarn work a similar group of stitches over the next 3 threads below. Continue thus for length of dropped stitch. Work over all dropped stitches in the same manner.
