1 pair knitting needles No. 11 or any size needles which will result in stitch gauge below.

If Knitting Worsted is used work with a double strand of yarn throughout.
Back: Cast on 54 (58, 62) stitches (sts) and work in pattern as follows:
1st Row: Knit (K) 2, * Purl (P) 2, K 2, repeat from * across row.
2nd Row: P 2, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * across row.
3rd Row: Same as 2nd row.
4th Row: Same as 1st row.
Repeat these 4 rows until Back measures 15 (15½, 15½) inches from beginning.
Shape Armholes: Keeping pattern even bind off 3 (4, 4) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st at beginning and end of every other row until 42 (46, 50) sts remain.
Work even until Armholes measure 7½ (7¾, 8) inches from 1st decreasing point.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 7 (8, 9) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then bind off 7 (8, 8) sts at beginning of next 2 rows.
Bind off remaining 14 (14, 16) sts.
Left Front: Cast on 38 (42, 46) sts and work in pattern same as on Back until Front measures same as Back to underarm.
Shape Armhole: Keeping pattern even bind off 3 (4, 4) sts at Armhole edge, then decrease 1 st at Armhole edge every other row until 32 (36, 40) sts remain. Work even until Armhole measures 5¼ (5½, 5½) inches from 1st decreasing point ending at Front edge.
Neckshaping: Bind off 12 (14, 16) sts at beginning of next row, decrease 1 st at Neck edge every other row 3 times, then decrease 1 st at same edge every row 3 (3, 4) times.
Work even on 14 (16, 17) sts until Armhole measures same as on Back, ending at Armhole.
Shape Shoulder: bind off 7 (8, 9) sts at beginning of next row. Work 1 row even. Bind off remaining 7 (8, 8) sts.
Mark position for 3 sets of buttons, having marker for 1st set 3¼ (3½, 3½) inches from lower edge and having markers for other 2 sets 4 inches apart.
Right Front: Work same as Left Front reversing the shaping and working the 3 sets of buttonholes to correspond to markers.
Set of buttonholes: Starting at Front edge work 4 sts, bind off 2 sts, work 10 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end of row. On next row cast on 2 sts over the bound off sts.
Sleeves: Cast on 26 (30, 34) sts. Work in pattern same as on Back increasing 1 st at beginning and end of row every 1¾ inches until there are 40 (44, 48) sts. Work even until Sleeve measures 16½ (17, 17) inches or length desired.
Bind off 4 sts at beginning of next 2 rows, decrease 1 st at beginning of every row until 16 (16, 18) sts remain, then bind off 2 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Bind off remaining sts.
Collar: Starting at inner edge cast on 18 (22, 26) sts and work in pattern casting on 8 sts at end of next 4 rows. Work even on 50 (54, 58) sts until Collar measures 4 inches from last cast on row. Bind off.
Finishing: Block each section. Sew seams. Sew Sleeves in position. Sew Collar in position leaving 3½ inches free from each Front edge. Work a row of single crochet (sc) all around Jacket and Collar and around Sleeve edges. Sew buttons in position.
