Pullover Sweater Pattern

These directions are for subteen size 8. Changes for subteen sizes 10, 12 and 14 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 4(4-5-5)
1 pair straight knitting needles No. 10 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 9 sts = 2 inches; 6 rows = 1 inch

BACK: Cast on 68(72-76-80) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 6 rows. K the next row to form hemline. Continue in rib­bing for 6 rows more. Work in stockinette st until piece measures 4(4½-5-5½) inches above hemline, ending with a P row. SHAPE DOLMAN SLEEVES: On the next row inc 1 st each end of needle and repeat this inc every other row 5 times more. At the beg of each of the next 8 rows cast on 2 sts. At the beg of each of the next 8 rows cast on 5 sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows cast on 4 sts — 144(148-152-156) sts. On next row K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 6 sts, K to last 6 sts, P 1, K 1 in ribbing to end of row. Keep­ing 6 sts at each end of needle in ribbing and remaining sts in stockinette st, work even until sleeves measure 4(4½-5-5½) inches above last group of cast on sts, ending with a K row. On next row work 52(54-55-57) sts, put a marker on needle, P 39(39-41-41) sts, inc 1 st in next st, put a marker on needle, work last 52(54-55-57) sts. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 4 rows bind off 10 sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 8(10-11-13) sts. On the next row bind off 8 sts, K to first marker, P 1, * K 1, P 1 repeat from * to next marker, K to end of row. Keeping center 41(41-43-43) sts in ribbing as established at the beg of each of the next 5 rows bind off 8 sts. Bind off remaining 41(41-43-43) sts.

FRONT: Work to correspond to back.

FINISHING: Sew underarm and shoulder seams. Hem lower edge, leaving an opening at one side for drawstring. Block to size. CORD: Using 7 yds of yarn, make a twisted cord. Draw cord through hem.
