Sizes 10 to 12

MATERIAL:
2 balls Sockwool 3 ply (1 oz. ball) Main color (m.c.)
1 ball Sockwool 3 ply (1 oz. ball) Contrasting color (c.c.)
1 set bone sock needles No. 1 and No. 2

GAUGE: 7½ sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:
   1st and 2nd round: K in m.c.
   3rd round: K in c.c.
   4th and 5th round: K in m.c.
   6th round: * K6 in c.c., slip 2 sts. as if to P, (keeping yarn in back of needle). Repeat from * across round. Repeat these 6 rounds for pattern.
   Cast on 60 sts. with m.c. on No. 1 needles. Join and work in ribbing K2, P2, for 3 inch. Change to No. 2 needles and pattern and decrease 4 sts. in next round at even intervals. Work even until entire sock measures 9½ inch, (or any desired length to heel) ending with 1 row of m.c. in center back, break off c.c. Mark the center back and slip 14 sts. from each side of marker to one needle (first needle). Divide the remaining 28 sts. on 2nd and 3rd needle for instep. Drop m.c. and work across first needle with a piece of different colored thread (heel marker) Break the thread. Pick up m.c. and starting with first needle work in pattern as on leg, (changing color in center of first needle) until piece measures from heel marker 6½ inch for Size 10, 7½ inch for Size 11, and 8½ inch for Size 12. Break off c.c. and work toe—decrease in m.c. only. 1st round: K around. 2nd round: On first needle K1, K2 tog., K across to within 3 sts., K2 tog. K1, on 2nd needle K1, K2 tog. K to end. On 3rd needle K across to within 3 sts. K2 tog. K1. Repeat these 2 rounds until 20 sts. are on needle. Weave sts. tog. Pull out heel marker and pick up 28 sole sts. on first needle, 14 sts. on 2nd needle and 13 sts. on 3rd needle. Attach m.c. and K across first needle, pick up 1 st. K across 2nd needle and 3rd needle and pick up 1 st. (to prevent a hole on each side of first needle) There are now 57 sts. in round. Now shape heel: 1st round: Work even. 2nd round: On first needle K1, K2 tog., K to within 3 sts., K2 tog. K1. On 2nd needle K1, K2 tog., K to end. On 3rd needle K to within 3 sts., K2 tog., K1. Repeat these 2 rounds until there are 21 sts. left. Weave sts. tog. and steam lightly.
