2 (3-3) skeins Sport Yarn or Orion Sayelle each green and orange (2 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 2 and No. 4
1 set sock needles No. 2
2 stitch holders 5 (5-6) buttons
GAUGE: 6 sts. = 1 inch
PATTERN:
1st row green: K across row.
2nd row green: K across row.
3rd row orange: * K4, slip 1 (yarn in back of work) repeat from * across row, end K4.
4th row orange: * P4, slip 1 (yarn in front of work) repeat from * across row, end P4.
Repeat 3rd and 4th row once more.
Repeat these 6 rows for pattern.
BACK:
With green and No. 2 needles cast on 104 (108-112) sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ inch. (all sizes). Incr. 5 (6-7) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 4 needles and pattern. With 109 (114-119) sts. work even until the entire piece measures 11½ (12-12½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 8 sts., (all sizes) at the beg. of the next 4 rows 2 sts. (all sizes) Decr. 1 st. at each end of needles every other row until 81 (85-89) sts. are left. Work even for 8 (8-8½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 6 (4-6) rows 8 (13-9) sts., rem. 33 (33-35) sts. bind off for neck.
LEFT FRONT:
With green and No. 2 needles cast on 59 (61-65) sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ inch. (all sizes), keeping the 7 center front sts. in seed st. for buttonhole border. Incr. 2 (5-6) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 4 needles and pattern and slip the 7 front sts. to a holder to be worked later. With 54 (59-64) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Bind off at armhole edge at the beg. of the next row 7 (8-9) sts. and at the beg. of the next 2 rows at same edge 2 sts. Decr. 1 st. at armhole edge every other row 3 (4-5) times and at the same time decr. for neck 1 st. at center edge every 3rd row until 24 (26-27) sts. are left. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 8 (13-9) sts. 3 (2-3) times. Attach green and slip the 7 front sts. from holder back to needle and work in seed st. until piece measures slightly stretched, as long as front to center of back.
RIGHT FRONT:
Work as Left Front reversing all shapings. Work in 5 (5-6) buttonholes evenly spaced apart, placing 1st buttonhole 1 inch from beg. and last one 2 rows below V-neck shaping.
FINISHING:
Sew up side and shoulder seams. Weave neckband tog. and sew to back of neck. Armband: right side facing you pick up with green and No. 2 sock needles 96 (104-112) sts. around the armhole and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 rounds. P 1 round. Work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 more rounds. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Work the other armband the same way. Fold armbands in half on P row and sew to wrong side. Sew buttons in place and block to size.
