Aluminum or  Plastic Crochet Hook, Size G. 
GAUGE: For Strip 1—35  sts = 8 inches; 12 rows = 2¼ inches. 
  For Strip 2—35 sts  = 10½ inches; 12 rows = 2¼ inches. 
STRIP 1 (Make 3) … Starting at narrow  edge, cast on 35 sts. 1st row: K across. 2nd row (wrong side): P  2, with yarn in front sl 1 st as if to purl, (p 5, sl 1, p 1, sl 1) 3 times; p  5, sl 1, p 2. 3rd row: K 2, (make a left- cross st—to make a left-cross  st, k in back loop of second st on left-hand needle then k in front loop of  first st, drop these 2 sts off left-hand needle; k 3, make a right-cross st—to  make a right-cross st, k in front loop of second st on left-hand needle then k  in front loop of first st, drop these 2 sts off left-hand needle; k 1) 3 times;  make a left-cross st, k 3, make a right-cross st, k 2. 4th row: P 3, (sl  1, p 3) 8 times. 5th row: K 3, (make a left-cross st, k 1, make a  right-cross st, k 3) 4 times. 6th row: P 4, (sl 1, p 1, sl 1, p 5) 3  times; sl 1, p 1, sl 1, p 4. 7th row: K 4, (make a cable twist—to make a  cable twist, sl 1 st onto a spare needle and hold in front of work, make a  right-cross st then k the st from spare needle, k 5) 3 times; make a cable  twist, k 4. 8th row: Repeat 6th row. 9th row: K 3, (make a  right-cross st, k 1, make a left-cross st, k 3) 4 times. 10th row: Repeat  4th row. 11th row: K 2 (make a right-cross st, k 3, make a left-cross  st, k 1) 3 times; make a right-cross st, k 3, make a left-cross st, k 2. 12th  row: Repeat 2nd row. 13th row: K 8, (make a cable twist, k 5) twice;  make a cable twist, k 8. 14th row: Repeat 2nd row.   STRIP 2 (Make 2) … Starting at  narrow edge, cast on 35 sts. 1st row: K 2, (O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 3,  k 2 tog, O, k 1) 4 times; O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 3, k 2 tog, O, k 2—35 sts,  counting each O as 1 st. 2nd and all even rows: P 35 sts. 3rd row: K 2, (O, k 1, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 1, k 2 tog, k 1, O, k 1) 4 times; O, k 1, sl  1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 1, k 2 tog, k 1, O, k 2. 5th row: K 2, (O, k 2, sl 1,  k 2 tog, p.s.s.o.; k 2, O, k 1) 4 times; O, k 2, sl 1, k 2 tog, p.s.s.o.; k 2,  O, k 2. 7th row: (K 3, k 2 tog, O, k 1, O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.) 5 times;  k 3. 9th row: K 2, k 2 tog, k 1, (O, k 1, O, k 1, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k  1, k 2 tog, k 1) 3 times; (O, k 1) twice; sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 2. 11th  row: K 1, k 2 tog, k 2, (O, k 1, O, k 2, sl 1, k 2 tog, p.s.s.o.; k 2) 3  times; O, k 1, O, k 2, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; k 1. 12th row: Repeat 2nd  row. Bind off as follows: Bind off 2 sts, slip  st from right-hand needle back onto left-hand needle, k 1 (ch-1 made); * sl  1, k 1, p.s.s.o.; pass the ch-1 over st just made; bind off 3 sts, k 2 tog,  pass the previous st over st just made, ch 1, bind off 1 st, ch 1. Repeat from  * across, ending with ch 1, bind off last 2 sts. 
Sew strips neatly  together lengthwise, alternating patterns. 
BORDER … With right side  facing, attach yarn and sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join  with sl st to first sc. Break off. 
FRINGE … Cut 6 strands  of yarn, each 16 inches long (for 1 fringe). Make 23 Plain Fringes evenly  spaced across both narrow edges.
