A reversible cable pattern especially designed for a baby carriage or crib cover.

Afghan measures 32 x 42 inches.

COATS & CLARK'S RED HEART "TURBO-KNIT," 2 Ply, Art. E. 274 (2 oz. folded skeins): 15 skeins of No. 679 Nile Green.
Knitting needles, 1 pair No. 10, 14-inch length.

GAUGE: 12 sts (2 cables) = 3 inches.

Starting at lower border, cast on 122 sts. 1st row: * K 1, p 1. Repeat from * across. 2nd row: * P 1, k 1. Repeat from * across. Next 4 rows: Repeat first and 2nd rows alternately. 7th row: (K 1, p 1) twice (border); * k 6, p 6. Repeat from * across to last 10 sts, k 6 (k 1, p 1) twice. 8th row: (P 1, k 1) twice (border); * p 6, k 6. Repeat from * across, to last 10 sts, p 6 (p 1, k 1) twice. Next 2 rows: Repeat 7th and 8th rows. 11th row: (K 1, p 1) twice, * make a cable—to make a cable, slip next 3 sts on a double-pointed needle and hold in back of work; k next 3 sts; k the 3 sts from double-pointed needle; p 6. Repeat from * across to last 10 sts, make a cable (k 1, p 1) twice. Next 4 rows: Repeat 8th and 7th rows alternately. 16th row: (P 1, k 1) twice; * p 6, make a cable. Repeat from * across, ending with p 6 (p 1, k 1) twice. Repeat the 7th to 16th rows incl for pattern. Work in pattern until total length is about 40 inches, ending with 15th row of pattern. Next 6 rows: Repeat 2nd and first rows alternately. Bind off. Block to measurements.
